Inside to outside box dimensions converter
Convert inside box dimensions to outside (or back) using the board thickness.
How it works
Regular slotted containers add about two board thicknesses to length and width and four to height (two flap layers top and bottom). Folding cartons add about two thicknesses per dimension.
Tip
Always order by inside dimensions: that is what your product must fit. Use outside dimensions for pallets and freight.

Because the product must fit inside; outside size depends on board thickness, which changes with the material chosen.
How accurate is the conversion?
Within a few millimetres. Manufacturers use their own allowances for scoring and joints.
